Julio Jones' Part On An Eagles Talented Offense

Who else is excited to see Julio Jones out on the field in an Eagles uniform? Honestly for the longest of times I wished that we had Julio Jones when he was in his prime. The man was something else, a top receiver with blazing speed, strong hands, physical, and exceptional route running. Jones was a force to be reckoned with every game he stepped out on the field. Yes, I know this version of Julio Jones isn't that version. And there's no real evidence that he can still play at that capacity. The truth is though, if the Eagles could get at least 75% of what Jones was in his prime that would be big.

His last few seasons in the league hasn't been anything really to brag about. But we also have to keep in mind he was injured a lot with the Titans and the Bucs. Sadly, that comes with age. He was used heavily in Atlanta with the Falcons. Basically, the cornerstone of that team for majority of his career. He holds records with the Falcons 848 catches for 12,896 yards and 60 touchdowns ranks him number two in teams all time history. Which when you look at those numbers, it reminds you that he was something else compared to the Julio Jones of the Titans and Bucs.

Though he isn't the same I do see a role on a young Eagles team. I feel like not only is he going to play, but also be a mentor to the young receivers and even a mentor to Jalen Hurts. I know, I know, how can a wide receiver mentor a quarterback. The answer is simple, Julio Jones played with a heck of a quarterback in Matt Ryan when he was in his prime. Keep in mind the Matt Ryan and Julio Jones led team that made it to the Super Bowl. Let's just forget the rest for a moment okay. Jones has plenty of experience. He's seen a lot as well in the league. That wisdom that he has he can pour it on the rest of the receivers, as well give some pointer to Hurts about possibly spreading the ball around to his other playmakers.

Personally, I think this signing was mainly for that reason. To have him mentor and still be an option for Hurts to throw to. He's no longer that number one wideout that we've seen and grown to love. But if the Eagles can get a portion of that this year, and he can stay healthy he can help the Eagles as an additional weapon. I don't see him with the same speed as before, but maybe he'll show everybody wrong. And if he does, that''ll be great for the Eagles and the offense.
