Eagles Win! But Was It A Satisfying W?

Great news! We came home with the win! But clearly there's somethings we need to talk about. Did you watch the game? What was your thoughts?

See after watching the game there were as always pros and cons. And of course, we're going to have that game in and game out. Yet there's somethings we need to talk about here. First though let's talk about the good!

The Good:

I can say for sure that the A.J Brown and Hurts connection is flourishing for sure. Another good thing is we actually got Dallas Goedert involved the way we should have. Both AJ and Dallas ended the game with well over one hundred yards for the day with AJ having 6Rec for 127Yds. Dallas had 8Rec with 117Yds and a TD. So we can say for sure they did their thing. Both Jalen Hurts and D'Andre Swift had respectably 72 and 70 Yds rushing in the game. With Hurts throwing for 303Yds one TD and a INT. Going 25/35 for the game, which in all honesty isn't bad at all.

The Eagles offense looked good and very powerful as always especially with that unstoppable Tush Push (QB Sneak). The receivers made plays when needed to most of the time and the run game was what we needed to keep the Rams on their toes. With Hurts running more than what I'd like. But there is no stopping him when he uses his legs. So, I see why we need him going in the running game. The O-line continues to make life easy double teaming in most cases Aaron Donald to keep a clean enough pocket for Hurts to work and maneuver in.

Defensively 4 sacks in the game, two coming from Jalen Carter and two from Hassan Reddick. The D-Line made sure to make their presence known throughout the whole game; pressuring Stafford mercilessly. While the linebackers did their thing to also help against the run and passing game.

Personally, I think this is the best we've played so far. And the play calls sat well with me this game. Yes, there were moments that we got upset. But all in all, I would say this is a win that I'm happy about and shows more progress.

The Bad:

Can we talk about the DB's? Because I surely do. Listen, it's been five weeks now and I can honestly say that the DB's haven't played to the highest of standards. Comparing there play to the LB's which we were the most worried about and the D-Line. They have failed to truly lock any receiver down. Now before anyone makes any excuse for them. Let's be real, they are up there in age. Yet we signed them for a few more years.
Yes, by the way, I'm talking about both Slay and Bradberry.

We need to do a better job in the back end. The only player that I see that is okay back there is Reed Blankenship. That man plays hard, and truly gives it everything he has every game. I'm not saying the others don't. I'm just saying and wondering are they already past their prime? And how much more of a decline will we see this year? I like Slay, Bradberry on the other hand I think he's okay. But it's time to really make some moves and get better DB's on the team.

Outside of that Jalen Hurts and his headache starting interception may be an issue further down the road. Did you see that jump ball to AJ Brown? Oh yea, because it wasn't a jump ball! Man, that pass was bad in every way. Listen I know he can do better than that. Maybe that's why I'm so hard on him. But let's agree here on something. Any other close game, that could've sealed the deal on us. We can't have him under throwing a jump ball with no one around him, and at that, to a target like Brown. I'm just saying we can't continue to have this happen.

Lastly let's talk about the lack of Devonta Smith. I get it, we have plenty
of playmakers on the team. But to be the best we have to do a better job of distributing the ball to ALL our playmakers. Look at the Dolphins and how Tua loves spreading the ball. We have the talent and Smith needs the ball in his hands to help this team. Hopefully the OC can make something happen and get the ball to everyone on offense. Because clearly that'll help us in the long run, having teams not know where we're going with the ball next.

Conclusion:

This victory was great! A well needed win as always, but clearly with much room to grow. I'm looking forward to next week and hoping for a better team to show up. Progression can never stop if we want to win it all.
